Philly YCL Commissions
Learning and Creating
The Education and Propaganda Commission organizes and plans political readings for YCL and community members, hosts speaker events, and spearheads various creative projects such as posters, flyers, stickers, shirts, etc. This commission was created recently because engaging in political education and political art is an important part of continuing the CPUSA and YCL’s long-standing tradition of informing and communicating with working class Philadelphians.
Organizing and Mobilizing
The Mass Work Commission does the work of fostering long-term relationships between Philly YCL and other organizations which advance working-class consciousness in the city. The Commission’s work has brought YCLers to organize closely with progressive electoral campaigns, anti-fascist demonstrations, and social movements in Philadelphia. This commission is relatively new and has a lot of potential to grow as members skill-up and our bonds with labor unions, neighborhood organizations, and other collectives of multiracial, queer and working class power strengthen.
Events and Outreach
The Membership commission takes on the task of engaging the current membership to form greater connections. Finding ways for membership to feel they can get involved and feel comfortable to do so. Drawing in potential new members and creating social environments for folks to get to know each other and our community
